Google is the number one search engine in the world. “According to StatCounter, Google has a 92.18% share of the global search engine market.” This means that if you want people to find your website, you need to be visible on Google. It is that simple. Furthermore, “Google owns approximately 65-70% of the US search engine market”. That is a huge chunk of the pie and ranking high on Google can make a significant difference to your bottom line. In fact, “a first-page Google ranking is worth $823.44” on average. That means if you can get your website to rank on the first page of Google for your target keywords, you could stand to make great profits. But it is not just about making money.

A high Google ranking can also help you to: Get more website visitors, build brand awareness, generate leads and sales, and improve customer satisfaction A high Google ranking can help you to achieve your business goals, improve business health and drive your ability to scale. That is why it is so important to invest time and effort into improving your Google ranking.

Search Engine Optimization - SEO - Matters to your ranking

SEO is the process of optimizing your website to rank higher in search engine results. It is important to invest time and effort into SEO to ensure that your website is visible to potential customers. Here are three reasons why SEO is crucial to your ranking:

Relevance - The first reason onsite SEO matters to your ranking is relevance. Search engines want to provide users with the most relevant results, so they will rank websites higher that are relevant to the user’s search query. If your website is relevant to the user’s search, then you have a better chance of ranking higher.

Keywords - Another reason keywords. Keywords are the words and phrases that users enter search engines when they are looking for something. If you use the right keywords on your website, then you will have a better chance of ranking higher in search engine results.

Structure - the page structure of your website matters to your ranking. These are the elements of site design that you might not know exist, or even care about... until now! Title tags are the words that appear in the search engine results pages (SERPs) for your website. They are the first words that users see, so it is important to have them structured correctly. Do you have Title tags, Meta, H1, or H2 tags? Are they saying what you what them to? Do you have them set up at all? Do you have too many? It all matters to your rank. Optimized and you rank higher than your competitors.

How to Rank Higher

There are many factors that go into Google's ranking algorithm, but as already mentioned, relevance may be the most important. Relevance is determined by how well your content matches the user's search query. If your content is relevant to the user's search, you are more likely to rank higher. Here are several areas where you can improve your relevance and, as a result, your Google rank.

Tips on ranking higher

Use keyword-rich titles and descriptions. Research what keywords are working in your industry. You should be using these words in your business already.

Fresh content is key. Consistently & regularly publishing new and relevant content will help you rank higher. At least once a month but more often is better. Think of adding a blog to your site,

Promote your content through social media and other channels. Do not think about the platforms you like and use - what are your customers on?!

Get quality back-links. Links from high-quality websites will help improve your ranking. Think networking for your site.

Bonus tip: Optimize your website for mobile. Half of all traffic is already via mobile and growing!

By following these tips, you can improve your Google ranking and visibility, and ultimately drive more traffic to your website.
